It sounds as though you did not select the 'custom' install option and specify TAPI.
Note also that, officially, for XP compatibility you will need SR5.1.1 FP1 (which is not free).
Also, be aware that starting development now using TAPI is not such a good idea as Intel-Dialogic have dropped supporting TAPI with effect from SR6.0 drivers. So, the app you develop now will not be transferrable to newer Intel-Dialogic drivers and boards.
