read the size of the image in the pdf file

Err.. which size?

Bytes in the PDF?  Yes.
Image size in pixels X & Y?  Yes.
Image size as it appears on the page: Not out of the box, no.  You'd have to code something Non-Trivial to do it... iText won't do it for you.

The first two require that you hunt down the Image XObject PdfDictionary for the image in question (and finding out which is which if there's more than one is going to be Very Difficult), and querying the PdfDictionary directly.  This will require that you crack open the PDF Specification and do some coding.  iText won't just hand you any of these values.

If you just want to collect all these values, not caring which is which, that isn't terribly difficult.  Check out the PDF Specification, look for Image XObjects.
