Another clue for people: look at the kernel modules snd-pcm-oss and 
snd-mixer-oss, among others. They're part of alsa, not oss. Bigger clue: they 
provide an oss emulation layer. I won't spoil the surprise any more than I 
already have, just do what Mike said. :)
