How To Telnet In (Was: KnoppMyth, too good to be true?)

I suspect that your problem is due to the fact that telnet is inherently
insecure and the majority of decent *nixes, including Linux, tend to
disable the telnetd daemon by default.

Get yourself an ssh client instead. For windoze, google for putty. If
you have cygwin installed, chances are that the ssh client is already
available within.

IMHO, telnet should not be enabled in this day and age, ESPECIALLY if your
system is reachable from the Internet.
