Actually, I have thought about that, and it doesn't seem THAT far-fetched. The PSP has a 333 MHz CPU. I believe it's a dual-core CPU, and uses the second core for media decoding. The on-board software can decode MPEG-4 and H.264. Getting it to decode MPEG-2 and RTJPEG shouldn't be too much stress on the CPU. Of course, the real ! (at) #$& would be getting enough bandwidth over the 802.11b connection.
For now, what I'd love to see is like a mini-front-end. I can scroll through the recorded programs, manage recordings, and directly control the front-end, kinda like how the HTTP interface works for XBMC.

Nintendo did a lot of things to discourage home-brew on their console (different disc file system, reading methods, encryptions, lack of hard disk) and technically, they were the only ones to make money off of their sixth generation console. Sony and Microsoft are still losing money on the PS2 and the XBox (consoles at least).
Also, that's not really true. Microsoft isn't trying to entice Linux users, or MythTV users to buy the XBox, yet there are several of us out there who have, and many more who are considering buying XBoxes exclusively for the use of MythTV. That use is part of the reason home-brew is discouraged. I buy an X360 or a PS3, and devote it to MythTV. Microsoft or Sony loses money on the console, and make no money off of the games. I am a loss to them.
Either way, this is getting off topic. > Too bad Micro$oft can't see that; though I'm sure they > won't be losing sleep over it with their pillows stuffed with $1,000 > dollar bills. > > ;) > > Chad > _______________________________________________ > mythtv-users mailing list > mythtv-users (at) mythtv.org > http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
