Right... untangling it from the other patches should be reasonably easy...
I'll follow up with a set of patches which puts the bulk of the budget-ci
changes first.

I think that I'm happier with the newer implementation in that repeats
*don't* show up if data isn't being received from the remote control,
allowing a longer time-out without auto-repeat causing lots more input than
intended.

Convenience, speed of implementation, maintainability...

Well, if you want to rewrite the keymap packer in C, that's fine :-)

Distribute the generated source if you like, but don't throw away its source
or the generator unless you really want to have to edit something which is
significantly less maintainable.
