Hi Alexander,
The Engine-K compression has nothing to do with card itself and would
only apply to Windows software that it comes with.
Do you want to use all 16 channels of the 4400R or do you want to use it
as a full frame rate device for 4 channels?
In either case I'd recommend that you not use Via based motherboards as
there is a lot of activity on the PCI bus from all the capturing and
Via's designs do not perform as well as those from the likes of Intel.
Regards,
Conor Downey

Hello,
For a customer where building an CCTV system based on Linux and
Zoneminder. For capturing we'd like to use a Kodicom 4400R card, which
seems to be supported by the bttv driver. Sites on the web mention
"Engine-K compression", what exactly is this and does linux support this
or is it disabled by default? I hope for the latter...
Regards,
Alexander
