The delay (it's several tenths of seconds) is there straight from the start. I
can run the sox pipe and the analog loopback at the same time.
The analog is a hair early (because it goes straight out and video gets
deinterlaced and filtered), but digital sound is WAY late.
What we actually need is the TV frontend applications to process BOTH the
sound AND the image.
