Currently, we have the card name(s) in the card data structure, which means we'll easily have half a dozen card names in the dmesg output for the particularly "popular" OEM designs. Genius, Typhoon, Gericom, LifeView brands (and that's just Germany), several variants of the same basic card design (see Platinum vs. Platinum Gold), and off you go.

My idea (we didn't proceed past having ideas) is to move the card name strings into the PCI ID structure, so that individual OEM badge jobs are identified individually - and correctly from the user's view.

Ok, in sync again. This doesn't sound bad to me....
