Hi,
Everyone is asking for HVR1300 drivers so I wanted to give everyone a
good overview of the current (unreleased) patches. :)
(See my other email) I'm creating a source tree on linuxtv.org/hg for a
temporary HVR1300 branch (thanks Mauro). The patches make a lot of
changes to the -dvb and -blackbird modules, as well as some other enum
cleanups for wm8775 and mutexes - so we need to isolate these for the
time being. Rest assured, the changes are minimal. Once I have the basic
tree published, I'd like to work directly with a few key people in terms
of testing (thanks to everyone for contacting me privately btw). Once we
have the drivers stable I see no reason why integrating them into the
main line will be an issue.
The current patches as of dec 2005 support the DVB _and_ PVR hardware
but had a minor issues when switching between devices. For example,
using DVB-T was reliable, but then launching tvtime (or mplayer) would
cause a minor issue because the hardware was not being transitioned
properly. The same is also true when running analog/mpeg2 via tvtime (or
mplayer), when switching to DVB.
So, the outstanding work means some slight re-work to the mpeg_start
function for the 88x driver, then I can publish what I have. Testers anyone?
I should have a tree available on linuxtv.org/hg/~stoth sometime over
the weekend, and I'll make an announcement here.
Regards to all,
Steve
PS. Is anyone getting excited about DVB-S2 yet?
