PcHDTV3000 NTSC reception

I have a PcHDTV card but I receive very few HDTV broadcasts (actually
currently none, but when I get an antenna set up it'll be two or three at
most). So except for the occasional HDTV broadcast I want to use the card
primarily as a second NTSC receiver.
As I read the docs though it seems the HDTV reception is handled by DVB
drivers and NTSC reception is handled by traditional v4l drivers and I have to
unload one and load the other to switch. That seems to make it impractical to
use in mythtv for both types of video signals.
Worse, right now it doesn't actually seem to work, as if loading the HDTV
drivers messed up the card settings even once they're unloaded and the the
NTSC v4l drivers are loaded.
Maybe I'm just confused about the exact relationship between the DVB HDTV
drivers and the drivers that handle NTSC. Is there a good way to handle what I
want to do?
