Connect two clients to /dev/video0?

I'm in a situation where I need to connect two clients (for example, two
instances of mplayer) to one single device.
In this case, the device is a Pinnacle PCTV USB 2. It works flawlessly. (With
the exception of sound; I hear nothing. That's not a problem for me at the
moment though.)
I have found this thing called vloopback:
http://www.lavrsen.dk/twiki/bin/view/Motion/VideoFourLinuxLoopbackDevice
... which claims to to just this. However, it is written for v4l and not v4l2,
and it does not work for me. (Right now I'm trying to rewrite it for v4l2 but
I'm not very experienced with these things so that may take quite some time.)
Any hints or ideas are greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
