Plextor TV402U av sync

Patched or unpatched, gorecord with kernel 2.6.16 is out of sync.  I
patched drivers  0.9.8 with avsync patches for 0.9.7.  The patch went
on ok, but is it possible the recordings are out of sync due to this
problem?

Or what else?  Hardware?

By the way, I would like to figure out how to adapt the patches for
gorecordmod, for recent drivers.  It looks like there are some
fundamental changes in the driver, but are they simple enough that a
not very good programmer who is a pretty good editor could do it?
