hi, i've searched the wiki and v4l-ml archive but nothing appropriate came up. i've been trying to get my usb webcam (creative webcam 3, ov511) to work for some hours until i found out that it only works directly attached on the mainboard, but not on a usb hub. is this a known problem or limitation? i asked a friend and his webcam with spca5xx driver behaves the same, so it's not related to ov511 but v4l or kernel? system info: kernel: 2.6.15.4 (gentoo 2.6.15-r5) friends kernel: 2.6.16.14 (gentoo 2.6.16-r7) updated ov511 driver to: v2.32 i've loaded the ov511 module with debug=5 and attached the output of the cam directly attached and on a usb hub. i tried to access the device with gqcam (0.9.1b) -v /dev/video0 and camstream (v0.27pre1). when attached to the hub i get output like: /dev/video0: No such device the corresponding debug output is: > May 12 20:31:49 x90 ov511-2.32/ov511_core.c: [ov51x_open:3822] opening > May 12 20:31:49 x90 ov511-2.32/ov511_core.c: No sensor is detected yet there is no problem when attached directly.. $ lsmod | grep ov ov511 96264 0 ovcamchip 26568 0 videodev 7360 1 ov511 v4l2_common 4864 1 ov511 i2c_core 17424 4 ov511,ovcamchip,i2c_viapro,nvidia tx for any infos.
