Hi

I've done some more research and the problem started
sometime between versions 3845 and 3898 in HG the 18th
of April 2006.
It is a big set of check ins named

"Convert XXX to refactored tuner code"

Is there anything I can do to make it work again?
(other than using the old version?

I have just acquired a Nova T USB device, and I can confirm that this regression in the hg version happens for me just as Mario described it. On kernel version 2.6.16 the device works perfectly, regression introduced as described above. It a bad failure, since it takes out the usb subsystem - at least in my case - and a reboot is required to get any usb function back.

I guess this has to be fixed before it finds its way into a kernel
release. If someone want to publish patches to try out I'd be very happy
to help.

Fix should be in SVN head as soon as Mauro updates it. In the meantime, the patch is at:
http://linuxtv.org/hg/~quincy/v4l-dvb?cmd=changeset;node=804ab4dce74d;style=gitweb

Just in case its helpful - I can confirm that this patch, applied to the hg version ending at changeset 4004, solves the kernel oops, and all works perfectly as before for the NOVA T USB2.

As of now (15:00 BST on Sunday 14th May) the patch has not yet appeared in the hg trunk.

I have just rebuilt from the latest hg, and I can now confirm that the fix was included in the hg main trunk as changeset 4011. This compiled, installed and worked for me - so problem now fixed in hg.
Many thanks.
Regards
Ian
