I have since discovered via another forum that the current Linux driver
for
the ZL10353 chip does not support channels operating on an offset
frequency,
as is the case with the station I am having the problem with.  The driver
author does not yet have sufficient documentation from the chip
manufacturer
to be able to implement support for offset frequencies.

Hi Aaron,

I am sure this is the problem with the zl10353. In Melbourne only Nine and
SBS
use freq offsets, both use +0.125. These are the only channels causing the
timeout
problem.

Is there a way to attach the mt352 instead of the zl10353 ?
