Hauppauge WinTV 34519 FM Receiver not working after Kernel Upgrade 2.6.15 -> 2.6.16

I had the same problem with an old wintv card.
If you search the list archive, you'll find that one other person reported
it too.
After one of the developers said the problem had been identified & fixed,
the other person said that the latest [CVS release of v4l, kernel
release, something; i forget exactly what] fixed it for him at the time.
Unfortunately it didn't for me, and i didn't have the time to really
troubleshoot it properly myself, so i gave up and started using
streamripper to grab the mp3 stream of the radio station i care about.
the first thing i'd try if i were you is to grab the 2.6.20 kernel to make
sure it's not fixed.
