see the wiki article: http://linuxtv.org/v4lwiki/index.php/Btaudio_(bt878)

Other then the advice in that, see if you have anything muted in your
audio mixer that would pertain to the sound input for the card

Nothing seems muted, using passthru cable works fine, after reading the
article I still don't understand if the problem it's hardware or I'm missing
something, with the btaudio or snd_bt87x I'm supposed to get audio via the
onboard adc without using any passthru audio cable but only with the pci
connection? or I still need to access the onboard audio by using another
device?
Also I've found an error in my dmesg when loading the bttv module at boot:

[ 48.155336] bt878: AUDIO driver version 0.0.0 loaded
[ 48.155392] bt878: Bt878 AUDIO function found (0).
[ 48.155429] bt878_probe: card id=[0x11ff15ff], Unknown card.

[ 48.155451] bt878: Bt878 AUDIO function found (0).

So it seems that doesn't recognize the card properly even for the audio part
even if I specify the card number in insmod option
here is the whole dmesg

I got another card, a dvb one, also based on bt878 that works

In the case of DVB, the audio, along with the video essence, is
encapsulated in a MPEG-2 Transport Stream that is received by the card
and sent across the system bus to the host processor for decoding...
meaning that, since the audio is already in digitized form, no ADC is
required, and thus it essentially is simply passed through the card to
the host system processor.

I've imagined this, thank you
