I just reassert my statement ..

"If API's are made out of datasheets, that's what happens (becomes
hardware dependant)"

forgot to add one line, earlier. In the long run.. useless .. But
device datasheets can be used to verify the API, not the other way
round (The reverse method usually happens due to lack of
understanding)
