there's make unload; modprobe em28xx available

I didn't want to install the modules just yet, hence the kludge.

$ mplayer -vo xv -tv driver=v4l2:freq=559 tv://

Only lists various PAL variants as supported norms, the picture is grainy
and monochrome, picture for the "good" (i.e. real PAL channel) stays okay.

hmm? the picture is grainy and monochrome but it works for PAL? can you explain this again. Do you want to use other standards?

Okay, i have 3 channels that are broadcast in PAL, those have no artifacts (i.e. normal color, no picture distortion). The vast majority are SECAM however, with stock 2.6.20 drivers, when the norm is set to secam the picture looks like it wasn't tuned (garbled beyond recognition) with PAL norm it's monochrome and grainy. The drivers from mercurial repository simply do not give me the option to use SECAM at all.

No audio still (for either channel, witnessed by running:
  arecord -D hw:1,0 -f cd | aplay
while mplayer is also running)

try to use usbaudio_setup.sh, there are a few wiki entries about it v4lctl volume mute off for example..

Thanks, will try. However the audio(large noise) is there so it's not about the audio being muted or anything.

<part of mplayer output>
Selected device: Pinnacle PCTV USB 2
  Tuner cap:
  Tuner rxs:
  Capabilites: video capture tuner audio read/write streaming
  supported norms: 0 = PAL-BG; 1 = PAL-DK; 2 = PAL-I; 3 = PAL-M;
  inputs: 0 = Television; 1 = Composite1; 2 = S-Video;
</>

Any mistakes in above? Anything else i can/should try?

try to stick with 2.6.15 - 2.6.19.1 till an "official" update is available.

Will also try. Why do the drivers from hg do not give me a SECAM option? And also, were there any success stories with this particular board?

Thanks.
