No Audio from Hauppauge PVR-160

Hi,
I managed to get my PVR-160 (Conexant Blackbird) to encode MPEG2 with MythTV but none of the recorded shows have any audio. Does anyone have any suggestions? Initially I was only able to get direct capture from the card (with audio) but after I was able to find firmware linked from the plutohome project I got the mpeg encoder to work.
When I was trying to get dmesg output I found I've been getting this error so much that it filled the ring buffer:
cx88[0]/2: cx8802_timeout
Thanks in advance for any help.
