Hi,
Can anybody let me know if the USB Twinhan
Starbox 7021 (not the Starbox 2, 7021a) is supported?
I have tried to make it work with old v4l drivers
(kernel 2.6.18) and the latest mercurial drivers and none of them seem to work.
The old drivers use dvb-usb-vp702x-01.fw and the
mercurial ones dvb-usb-vp702x-02.fw, so it is not
clear to me whether the Starbox or the Starbox 2 or both are supported.
With the mercurial drivers, after I connect the
Starbox I get the following from dmesg:
dvb-usb: found a 'TwinhanDTV StarBox DVB-S USB2.0
(VP7021)' in cold state, will try to load a firmware
dvb-usb: downloading firmware from file 'dvb-usb-vp702x-02.fw'
dvb-usb: found a 'TwinhanDTV StarBox DVB-S USB2.0 (VP7021)' in warm state.
dvb-usb: will pass the complete MPEG2 transport stream to the software demuxer.
DVB: registering new adapter (TwinhanDTV StarBox DVB-S USB2.0 (VP7021)).
dvb-usb: MAC address: 00:08:ca:15:89:88
vp702x: system string: USB702XÐ
DVB: registering frontend 4 (Twinhan DST-like
frontend (VP7021/VP7020) DVB-S)...
input: IR-receiver inside an USB DVB receiver as /class/input/input6
dvb-usb: schedule remote query interval to 400 msecs.
dvb-usb: TwinhanDTV StarBox DVB-S USB2.0 (VP7021)
successfully initialized and connected.
So everything seems to work ok, but if I tri to perform a scan, like this:
./scan -a 4 -l 10700,10700 dvb-s/xxxxx
I get the following from dmesg (repeated several times):
vp702x: usb in operation failed. (-110)
With the old driver (kernel 2.6.18), I get this
when I try to install this tuner:
usb 4-5: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 2
usb 4-5: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
dvb-usb: found a 'TwinhanDTV StarBox DVB-S USB2.0
(VP7021)' in cold state, will try to load a firmware
dvb-usb: downloading firmware from file 'dvb-usb-vp702x-01.fw'
usbcore: registered new driver dvb-usb-vp702x
usb 4-5: USB disconnect, address 2
dvb-usb: generic DVB-USB module successfully deinitialized and disconnected.
usb 4-5: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3
usb 4-5: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
dvb-usb: found a 'TwinhanDTV StarBox DVB-S USB2.0 (VP7021)' in warm state.
dvb-usb: will use the device's hardware PID filter (table count: 8).
DVB: registering new adapter (TwinhanDTV StarBox DVB-S USB2.0 (VP7021)).
dvb-usb: MAC address: 00:08:ca:15:89:88
vp702x: system string: USB702X
DVB: registering frontend 4 (Twinhan DST-like
frontend (VP7021/VP7020) DVB-S)...
input: IR-receiver inside an USB DVB receiver as /class/input/input3
dvb-usb: schedule remote query interval to 400 msecs.
dvb-usb: TwinhanDTV StarBox DVB-S USB2.0 (VP7021)
successfully initialized and connected.
And then I try to scan (I have tested the
following command with another card in the same
computer and it works perfectly):
./scan -a 4 -l 10700,10700 dvb-s/aurora
I get this:
scanning dvb-s/aurora
using '/dev/dvb/adapter4/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter4/demux0'
initial transponder 12407000 V 30000000 2

Done.
If anybody have any clues in regards to this
card, I would really appreciate the help.
Regards,
Edgar Pisani
