Perhaps you would be interested in Joachim Orrblad's master thesis
"Alternatives to MIKEY/SRTP to secure VoIP"? See
http://www.minisip.org/publications.html for an online version.
He investigated the feasibility of using IPSec to secure the VoIP
calls (and added experimental support for MIKEY/IPSec-ESP
to minisip), however, for various reasons he favored the use
of SRTP.
