Test for Empty Category

Hi,

In a Summary Template (e.g. 
./themes/<themename>/modules/articles/user-summary-doc.xt), is it possible 
to do a test of a Category to determine if it is empty?

The situation I have is that I want to display a message via the Summary 
Template for visitors to come back when Content is available, if the 
Category is empty. I just don't know how to test for that in the Summary 
Template.

Any suggestions appreciated.
