How do you expect to check the existence of valid dial tone in less then few seconds (go off hook, wait a little for PBX to start emitting tone, hear if the tone exists and if it's valid, etc.) ?

The other way (then using dx_dial) is to define dialing tone (dx_bld..., dx_addtone) and then go off hook and issue dx_getdig and check if tone is detected.
