alaw/mulaw 8khz/11khz

Hi,

I'm trying to find out the best data format/rate to play voice in order to have the least data conversion for network telephony.

Am I right to state that using ALAW/8KHZ for voice is the best for E1/Europe because it is the closest to ISDN network data format (and MULAW/8KHZ for T1/USA) ?

Can you also confirm me that playing 11Khz voice on E1/T1 ISDN will always require a 8KHZ conversion before sending on network ?
